Sacred Valley Bike Tours – Maras Moray Bike Tour

We will start our day early with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco or Urubamba. Our journey begins with a scenic 1.5-hour drive from Cusco or a 30-minute ride from Urubamba to the starting point near Chinchero, located in the heart of the Sacred Valley. As we travel, you will be treated to stunning views of the Andean landscape, with snowcapped mountains and traditional farmlands setting the scene for the adventure ahead.

Chinchero:

Upon arrival at Chinchero, the bike tour will begin. We will gear up and start riding on off-road paths and narrow trails that wind through the Sacred Valley’s picturesque countryside. Surrounded by breathtaking views, we will make our way towards the Moray archeological site. This first part of the ride takes about three hours, with ample opportunities to stop and soak in the dramatic mountain scenery.

Moray:

Once we reach Moray, we will pause to explore its fascinating circular terraces, believed to have been used as an agricultural laboratory during the Inca period. Our knowledgeable guide will share the site’s history and explain the advanced irrigation systems that made it such an innovative agricultural hub. After taking in the impressive views and learning about this unique site, we will continue our journey.

From Moray, we will pedal along a more challenging trail. This route includes several technical sections with ups and downs as we ride toward the village of Maras. The trail provides both an exciting challenge and spectacular views of the surrounding valley. Arriving in Maras, we will briefly explore this traditional village before continuing to one of the highlights of the tour: the Maras Salt Pans.

Maras Salt Pans:

The ride will take us downhill to the Salt Pans, where thousands of shimmering salt pools spread across the hillside. This ancient site, still in use today, is an incredible testament to Inca ingenuity. We will stop at a viewpoint to enjoy a panoramic view of the salt flats, which contrast sharply with the green hills around them. After taking in the beauty of the site, we will descend further into the valley.

At the end of our ride, we will arrive at a nearby village, where our transport will be waiting. From here, we will head to Urubamba for a delicious local lunch. This will be a perfect way to relax after the morning’s adventure.
