Day 1: Cusco – Pisac – Urubamba – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

On the first day of our Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour, we will depart from Cusco at 8:00 am. We will board our comfortable transportation and head to our first stop, the colorful market town of Pisac. 

Pisac:

Nestled at an altitude of 2,972 meters (9,751 feet), Pisac boasts a lively market and striking Inca ruins. We will explore the local market, where we can shop for traditional crafts and souvenirs. 

Then, we will venture up to the Pisac ruins, where we will marvel at the impressive terraced fields and ancient structures. Our local expert will be sharing some useful information. 

Urubamba:

Following our visit to Pisac, we will continue our journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the town of Urubamba. We will arrive around 1:00 pm, just in time for a delicious buffet lunch at a local restaurant. 

Ollantaytambo:

After refueling, we will make our way to the historic town of Ollantaytambo. It is situated at 2,792 meters (9,160 feet) above sea level. Here, we will visit the remarkable fortress and terraces, learning about the fascinating history of this strategic Inca site. 

Aguas Calientes: 

At approximately 4:30 pm, we will board the train for a scenic ride to Aguas Calientes. It is the gateway to Machu Picchu. We will arrive at our hotel in Aguas Calientes around 6:00 pm. Here we will have a chance to relax and prepare for our unforgettable tour to Machu Picchu the following day.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

On the second day of our tour, we will rise early to make the most of our time at the Inca citadel. We will leave our hotel in Aguas Calientes at 5:30 am. We will board the bus that will take us up the winding road to Machu Picchu. 

Nestled at an altitude of 2,430 meters (7,972 feet) above sea level, this awe-inspiring site awaits our arrival. With our Machu Picchu tickets in hand, we will enter the citadel around 6:30 am. You will witness the rising sun illuminating the ancient stones.

Machu Picchu Guided Tour:

On our two hours guided tour, we will explore various sectors of the Machu Picchu Citadel. We will discover the intricate stonework, agricultural terraces, and sacred temples that make this site so remarkable. 

Our knowledgeable guide will share the rich history of the Inca civilization. We will be shedding light on the purpose and significance of each structure here. The guided tour will conclude around 10:00 am. 

After the tour, you will have some free time to further explore the site or embark on optional hikes. You can trek to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) or Huayna Picchu.

You won’t need a permit to hike to Sungate. It is free of cost and offers a panoramic view of Machu Picchu citadel. Sungate is also the point of entrance to Machu Picchu for those hiking the Inca Trail. 

After a memorable day at Machu Picchu, we will board the bus back to Aguas Calientes around 2:00 pm. We will have some time to grab a quick bite or explore the town. We will be catching the train at 4:30 pm for our return journey to Cusco. 

As we wind our way through the picturesque Andean landscape, we will reflect on the incredible experiences of our tour. We will arrive in Cusco around 8:00 pm. We will say our goodbyes and cherish the memories of our unforgettable adventure.
