For trekkers who have less time available, this trek is the short version of the famous and stunning Inca Trail. You can visit the most beautiful site on the Inca Trail, Wiñay Wayna, and arrive at Machu Picchu in only two days!
The first day you will start in Cusco (3,350m/11,055ft) and take an early morning train from Ollantaytambo through the picturesque Sacred Valley until we reach Km 104 (2,200m/7,2600ft). At Km 104 we begin our trek. You will cross over the Vilcanota River via a beautiful bridge and arrive at Chachabamba, the first Inca ruin on our trek.
The trek continues on an ascending path into a forest. Here you will reach a magnificent waterfall and shortly afterwards you will arrive at the Inca construction of Wiñay Wayna (‘Forever Young’). Here you will have lunch and then continue the journey to Inti Punku (the Sun Gate) where you will have your first impressive view of MachuPicchu (2,500m/8,250ft). After taking in the view you will take the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes where you will spend the night.
After a good breakfast, you will take the first bus up to MachuPicchu where you will have a guided tour on the amazing architecture and mysterious temples with our professional English speaking guide. Our guide will help you understand the sophisticated ideas of this highly advanced culture.
Once you have completed the official tour, you will have plenty of time to explore the sanctuary on your own before returning to Cusco by train in the afternoon.
